Intra cytoplasmic sperm Injection (ICSI)
ICSI is a specialised form of In Vitro Fertilization, in which a single sperm is directly injected into an egg using a fine needle by a skilled embryologist.
This egg is there after allowed to fertilize and grow for few days before implanting into uterus.
ICSI is recommended when there is
- A low sperm count
- A higher number of abnormal sperms
- Reduced sperm motility
- An obstruction such as vasectomy (preventing sperm release)
- If other fertility treatments have failed such as IUI, conventional IVF etc.
